About Us

Owner, Shelayne H. Thompson, began her career in the floral industry over 20 years ago. Most recently, she owned Wholesale Floral and Design Center in Birmingham, Ala. She has designed creations for other Alabama floral houses including Silkwood, Anything Grows, Interior Answers and Shelayne’s Creations. In 2005, Shelayne merged her business with Raymond Osbun and they opened SILKINDESIGN.

Co-owner, Raymond Osbun, purchased Silkwood in Birmingham, Ala., and in 2001 he renamed the business Arboretum. Arboretum had many commercial and residential clients throughout the southeast which are now served by the new company. Raymond also owns Foliage Design Systems which is a supplier of live plants to large commercial businesses and also provides plant maintenance contracts.

SILKINDESIGN has a team of talented designers with many years in the floral design industry. Their creations can be seen in residential homes and office buildings throughout Alabama and the southeast region.
